Richard Wylie is a ‘reformed’ advertising agency principal now living a ‘for purpose’ life as the Fundraising Director at a major Sydney-based medical research institute. Former Board member of Wayside Chapel.
Read below why Richard chose to include Wayside Chapel in his Will.
“I have supported Wayside Chapel for many years, revelling in the days of community celebrations like Christmas Day Street Party, the opening of the new building in 2012, and I am moved weekly by the stories from Pastor / CEO Jon Owen’s letter to the Inner Circle. I’ve been very lucky in my life and have only had to battle very modest adversity. My experience with Wayside has shown me that their visitors haven’t been so lucky.
I’ve long admired Wayside’s commitment to supporting people on the worst days of their lives.
For many people who walk into Wayside Chapel, their world is crashing around them. Homelessness, addiction and mental health issues are just some of the problems facing the people they help.
They are often betrayed and damaged by trusted adults. No one deserves care and support more than someone who’s never really had it. This is where Wayside comes in.
At Wayside Chapel, they are welcomed with dignity and warmth, and can gain access to things like hot showers, a clean pair of undies and clothing, as well as meaningful, essential support.
I chose Wayside Chapel to be included in my Will, as I believe it is the most cost-effective donation I’ll ever make! Hopefully my modest support (and the support of many others like me) can create happier days for those who need it most. It’s honest, authentic, and I know it will be used in ways that make a difference.
Wayside is essential for our community right now. My ever-lasting gift will allow this loving organisation to continue now and into the future.
I would encourage others to do something today that will last for eternity and give a gift in your Will.”
