Gift in Will

Leave your legacy of love for our community

Since 1964, Wayside Chapel has played an important part in the lives of many people who have found themselves in crisis with nowhere else to turn.

Offering a place where everyone is welcome with open arms and open hearts has helped people move towards health and happiness.

Your lasting gift will help to provide ongoing support and wrap-around care from nourishing meals and hot showers; to assistance with securing housing, legal services and employment; to help people get back on their feet.

Gifts in Will also allow us to address the diverse and ever-changing needs of our community by funding innovative programs like our Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Women’s Space that ensure visitors can access culturally safe and trauma-informed care.

Most of all, your gift will help build a sense of connection for people who feel lonely and excluded by the rest of society. By providing a safe place for people to visit, you’ll be breaking down the barriers that divide us and creating a community with no ‘us and them’ for future generations.

FAQ

We rely on the kindness of people like you to help us continue our work, as government funding currently only covers 12% of our costs. In order to continue supporting the most vulnerable people in our community for many years to come, we are asking you to consider this gift.

You have two options when it comes to making or changing your Will – a consultation with a solicitor or an online Will-writing platform.

Not at all. Changing your Will and adding a gift to Wayside Chapel is easy; all you have to do is make a ‘codicil’ (or a document that amends a previously executed will). When you next see your solicitor, just take a copy of our wording with you and they can simply update your existing Will for you.

Yes, your solicitor can arrange this for you or it can be easily set up with an online Will-writing platform.

No, and we strongly encourage you to ensure that you look after your family and/or loved ones first. A gift of any size will make a significant impact on the programs and services we provide for our community.

Whilst any gift is greatly appreciated, a residual legacy or a percentage are the preferred options because they automatically keep up with inflation, eliminating the need for you to update your Will later on. These legacy types do not decrease in value over time.

We would love the opportunity to thank you personally for your future support, and keep you updated on the great work happening at Wayside. You can let us know about your decision by calling or emailing us. Alternatively, you may like to ask your solicitor to notify us on your behalf. Confidentiality of your advice will be respected at all times.

When you choose to leave a gift in your Will to Wayside Chapel, you are joining an extraordinary circle of supporters, driven by the profound conviction of love over hate.

As a gesture of our deep gratitude, we’ve introduced The Wings of our Angels, an exquisite memorial sculpture located in the rooftop garden at Wayside Kings Cross. This beautiful artwork created by Joel Adler and Aunty Nancy Long, honours the incredible individuals who have considered us in their legacies. It serves as a poignant tribute to our community members – celebrating their resilience, honouring their struggles, and remembering those we’ve sadly lost.

We would still love to thank you privately, however, we respect all our supporters’ wishes and your details will be held in strictest confidence. You will control the level of contact that you receive from us.
