Freedom Ride- August 2024

The 1965 Freedom Ride was an event started by Sydney University students to draw attention to the marginalisation of and racism toward Aboriginal people in New South Wales regional towns. Wayside Chapel supported the movement by providing the organising headquarters and other support. The Freedom Rides left from the front steps of Wayside in 1965, paving the way for the referendum of ’67
